River of love
The river
of love
has dried up
once overflowed
now has no water
life was full of zest
and a bed of roses
when we were in love
fragrance spread in autumn
talked of love and life
even in crematorium
drenched in rain
waiting in sun
braving heat and dust
we met so often
to talk endlessly
in lonely corners
once united the charm was gone
dull routine took its place
attraction was no more
very soon we were bored
with each other's presence
had it been deeper love
or understanding and maturity
we would have lived
forever sharing sorrows and joy
love exists until unachieved
it is a goal to reach
becomes mundane when fulfilled
another goals takes over
and life becomes burdonsome.
